Education

Summer from Vivaldi's Four Seasons

Stephanie Flack provides students of all levels with a comprehensive program that includes weekly individual lessons and twice-monthly group lessons. Students learn classical technique and alternate styles, along with music theory, conducting, sight singing, and how to read music. Students participate in numerous performance opportunities throughout the Washington, DC, metropolitan area.

Ms. Flack is dedicated to giving each student a complete education in violin performance, both musically and technically, to develop well-rounded performers and musicians utilizing the world-renowned Suzuki method and numerous other pedagogical approaches and materials. Her wish is for her students to develop lifelong friendships through her collaborative and whole-child environmental approach. Students work toward their musical goals through practical musical applications that include preparation techniques for school and youth orchestra programs, chamber music experiences, and studio-provided and area performing opportunities.

Located in Alexandria, Virginia, SFVS draws aspiring violinists from throughout Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC.

The Suzuki Method

Shinichi Suzuki, a Japanese master violin teacher, revolutionized violin teaching. The Suzuki Method produces outstanding results and is based on the principle that every child can learn music through the same process he learns his mother tongue language. Through this approach, a child can develop her abilities during the early absorbing and sensitive years to an extent far beyond what most people might imagine possible.

Individual Lessons

SFVS offers lessons in 30, 45, and 60 minute sessions, based on students' age and progress. All students are required to participate in twice-monthly group lessons that complement individual lessons and support students' musical growth.

Group Lessons

SFVS students participate in group lessons at least twice monthly in addition to group individual lessons. SFVS students are required to participate in group lessons as part of their program.
